The American Board of Podiatric Medicine (ABPM) is committed to providing reasonable testing accommodations in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Accommodations are intended to provide candidates with an equal opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and skills during the examination process.
Candidates requesting testing accommodations should submit their request and supporting documentation during the examination application process. ABPM and Pearson work together to review and implement approved accommodations.
Prior Approved Accommodations
If a candidate previously received accommodations on a similar high-stakes examination and is requesting the same accommodations, ABPM will generally approve the request upon receipt of supporting documentation without requiring additional evaluation.
Professional Documentation
ABPM will defer to documentation provided by a qualified professional who has conducted an individualized assessment of the candidate and supports the requested accommodation(s).
Limited Documentation Requests
Any documentation requested by ABPM will be reasonable and limited to the accommodation being requested.
Timely Review
ABPM will review accommodation requests in a timely manner. Candidates will be given a reasonable opportunity to provide any additional information needed while still maintaining eligibility for the current testing cycle.

Accommodation approvals are determined on an individual basis and must be supported by appropriate documentation when applicable.
Certain items classified as comfort aids do not require prior approval and may be permitted at the testing center.
