The American Board of Podiatric Medicine (ABPM) recently held its Annual Meeting of Members, followed by a meeting of the Board of Directors. During these meetings, ABPM reviewed the work of the past year and formally installed its Board officers for the upcoming term.

The American Board of Podiatric Medicine (ABPM) announces the successful relocation of its headquarters from Hermosa Beach, California to East Syracuse, New York. This move marks a significant milestone in the organization’s continued mission to certify and advocate for Podiatrists across the country.
All existing contact information, examination schedules, and certification processes remain in effect during and after the transition. ABPM Diplomates and candidates can expect the same high level of service and support they have come to rely upon.
The organization’s commitment to advancing podiatric medicine through rigorous certification standards and ongoing professional development continues unchanged in its new location!
The Diplomates of the American Board of Podiatric Medicine recently voted to elect four individuals to serve on the organization’s Board of Directors. Incumbents Brian Lepow, DPM, of Texas, Katerina Grigoropoulos, DPM, of Illinois, and Imaze M. Davis, DPM, of Florida, were re-elected and join newly elected Tyler Wishau, DPM, of Illinois, to serve four year terms. All four directors are serving terms that will expire in 2028. Dr. Wishau grew up in Los Alamos, New Mexico, studied abroad in Berlin, Germany, and graduated from high school in Columbia, Missouri. He earned his B.A. in Biology from Carthage College and received his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from Des Moines University in 2014. Dr. Wishau completed his residency training with SSM Health in St. Louis, Missouri, and went on to complete a surgical fellowship at the Professional Education and Research Institute in Roanoke, Virginia.
Currently in his seventh year of practice with SSM Health, Dr. Wishau is part of a multi-specialty medical group of approximately 60 providers serving southern Illinois. He specializes in broad podiatric care with a particular focus on reconstructive foot and ankle surgery and limb salvage. He consistently ranks above the 90th percentile with respect to MGMA wRVU benchmark data.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Wishau has served on the Medical Executive Committee at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital for the past four years. He was honored as the SSM Health Southern Illinois Physician of the Year in 2023.
Dr. Wishau is also passionate about education. He was hired as an Advising Clinical Associate Professor of Podiatry at Liberty University from 2022 through 2025.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Wishau has worked as a professional juggler at Six Flags Great America. He has held multiple records for juggling while running, including the fastest 800m run while juggling, achieved in 2008.

Call for Residency Reviewers
One of the most important components of the CPME residency approval process is the team site visit. The site visit is a peer-review process that helps to enhance the quality of education by assessing a program’s compliance with CPME standards and requirements. CPME is committed to ensuring each evaluator possesses appropriate experience and skills essential to the evaluation process. CPME residency evaluators must be certified by one or both of the specialty boards recognized by the SBRC and should be either program directors or active faculty members of CPME-approved residencies. Prior to participating as a member of a team, evaluators complete a training program and are assigned to a team as trainees under the tutelage of the team chair and the specialty board representatives. The Residency and Fellowship Visits – Invitation for Comments Become a CPME Residency Program Evaluator council pays all expenses incurred during the site visit and a per diem for each travel and on-site visit day. Individuals interested in becoming residency evaluators should submit a letter of interest and current curriculum vitae to their certifying boards. APMA House of Delegates Passes ABPM’s One Board Proposition!
Recently, ABPM Board Members Immediate Past-President Lee C. Rogers, DPM, Treasurer Brian Lepow, DPM, President Adam R. Johnson, DPM, and past-President William E. Chagares, DPM, successfully submitted and advocated for the passage of Policy Proposition 2-24, calling for the APMA to make it their official policy to support the formation of one certifying board in podiatry. Over 1,400 podiatrists across the country signed the official petition of support prior to the meeting of the House of Delegates. The proposition passed with an approximately 62% of the vote from the House.
This proposition is rooted in the long-running advocacy the Board has undertaken to move the profession forward into the future. A single certifying Board in podiatric medicine and surgery, has been called for many times, including by the APMA itself in its Vision 2015 statement. The policy proposition calls for a One Board Task Force to undertake the study and recommendation of a framework for consolidation of the two boards. Read the full text of the proposition here.

LOS ANGELES, CA., – The American Board of Podiatric Medicine (ABPM), the nation’s premier certifying board for Doctors of Podiatric Medicine, has developed a new scholarship program for podiatry students and young practitioners to develop future leaders of the profession through immersive clinical and conference experiences.
The scholarship shall be awarded to one student and one qualifying resident DPM, to include a paid trip to the American Society of Podiatric Surgeons (ASPS) Conference next year. Candidates may also choose to attend the International Federation of Podiatrists (FIP) Global Podiatry Summit. To qualify for the award, ABPM has developed the following criteria for entrants to meet for consideration:

ABPM recognizes the gravity of the current leadership crisis within the profession and its inability to meet the needs of current and future generations of podiatrists. ABPM developed the scholarship to groom the next generation of leaders in podiatry by exposing them to cutting edge clinical conferences and familiarizing them with the litany of ways board certification in podiatric orthopedics and primary podiatric medicine can serve them for the life of their career.
