CPME 320 DOCUMENT
Response to Call for Public Comments
Podiatric education and training is the basis for our scope of practice, protects the public, and provides a roadmap for the future of the profession. The document that sets the standards for podiatric residency training is revised every 6 years. The CPME has completed their recommended changes to Document 320; Standards and Requirements for Approval of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residencies and those draft changes are now available for review and public comment.
The ABPM is asking the community of interest to review the draft CPME Document 320 and our response and make your own comments to CPME.
FOR STUDENTS/RESIDENTS
ABPM offers podiatric physicians a comprehensive board qualification and certification process in podiatric orthopedics and primary podiatric medicine. ABPM also provides comprehensive In-training examinations to residents for self-assessment, and as study and reference material in preparing to sit for Board qualification.
FOR CREDENTIALERS
ABPM certifies podiatric physicians from across the nation through qualification and certification examinations administered annually. You can verify a physician's ABPM board standing by calling, through fax or email or online access.
As part of our certification process, ABPM conducts primary verification of graduation and residency information including the names and locations of the institutions and the dates of graduation or completion in compliance with Council on Podiatric Medical Education standards. State licensing and disciplinary actions are also tracked and verified annually.
FOR MEMBERS
In addition to the direct benefits received by attaining Board certification, ABPM-certified podiatrists benefit from increasing their marketability to employers, garnering higher compensation, establishing expertise in the most common category of podiatric care and joining a community with a commitment to excellence.
